City of Biloxi to honor fallen officers

The Biloxi Police Department this week will conduct its Fallen Officers Ceremony and will host a blood drive in memory of an officer ambushed and killed in the front parking lot of the public safety center two years ago.

The Fallen Officers Ceremony takes place Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center, and the Second Annual Officer Robert McKeithen Memorial Blood Drive will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Biloxi Visitors Center.

The Fallen Officers Ceremony, which is open to the public, will be conducted on the front steps of the Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center, 170 Porter Ave. Among those being memorialized during the ceremony are Officer David Higginbotham, Officer Emery Wilson, Lt. Michael Meaut, Animal Control Officer Nathan Mitchell and McKeithen.
