How to tell if your dog has the Dog flu!

Honestly- I didn't know that there was a "DOG" flu. Did you?  Apparently it is real and we need to keep an eye out on our canine family members.

For the first time in years, the dog flu is spreading across the country -- and vets say it’s not something to mess around with. If not treated, dog flu has a 10 percent mortality rate.

Vets say dogs catch the flu from barking, coughing and sneezing when dogs are in close contact -- like in kennels, doggy daycares, shelters and grooming facilities. If your dog shows any of these symptoms, it's better to take them to the vet immediately:

  • Coughing
  • Lethargy
  • Fever
  • Decreased appetite
  • Runny nose

And experts stress -- if your dog is not vaccinated do not bring them to kennels, daycare or the dog park. (Good Housekeeping)
