Will the Gulf Coast be seeing flurries?!

The Mississippi and Alabama coasts are hours away from feeling the impact of a winter storm sweeping eastward. A Winter Storm Watch will take effect tonight for the northern and central sections of the state with the National Weather Service predicting snow accumulations of up to three inches. Forecasters say the Biloxi area is likely to see rain possibly mixed with snow Tuesday morning with no accumulation expected. A hard freeze is forecast for Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Wicker Statement on Agreement to End Government Shutdown

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., released the following statement in response to President Trump and Congressional Democrats reaching an agreement on a funding proposal that would immediately reopen the closed portions of the federal government and continue negotiations on border security funding:

“A number of Democrats in the House and Senate have stated publicly and privately they would negotiate in good faith if the President would reopen the government. By making this agreement with the President, congressional Democrats will have an opportunity over the next three weeks to make good on their assurances. Bipartisan majorities in the House and Senate have voted in the past to fund border security structures. In the meantime, it is a relief to us all that our government will be functioning, and our dedicated federal employees will receive their compensation.”

And this has to be the strangest story that came across the wires this morning:

Do not kiss or hug your pet hedgehogs. That's the warning from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who say a Salmonella outbreak affecting eight states is linked to contact with the small animals. As of Wednesday, the outbreak has infected eleven people, ten of whom reported making contact with a hedgehog in the week prior. Cases have been reported in Missouri, Minnesota, Colorado, Maine, Mississippi, Nebraska, Texas and Wyoming. A similar warning occurred after a death in 2013. Salmonella can trigger illness including fever and stomach cramps, and in some instances, causes death.
