Some things to keep in mind as you set clocks forward an hour.

Turning the clock ahead one hour for daylight savings time this weekend can be difficult for many people. Sleep specialist Dr. Ofer Jacobowitz says you can catch up on the hour sleep you'll lose in small doses by taking short naps. Dr. Jacobowitz also says spending more time exposed to daylight, will help you adjust to the time change because it helps adjust your awake and sleep cycle. He adds getting enough sleep is critical to having good overall health.

Naps and cookies. lol I always love that kind of advice.

State Fire Marshal Mike Chaney is asking everyone to test existing smoke alarms this weekend when you set your clocks forward for daylight saving time. So far in 2019, there have been 21 fire deaths.

“In at least 14 of the fire deaths this year there were no working smoke alarms to warn people to get out of their home,” said Chaney. “I’d like all Mississippians to turn their attention to fire prevention. Check your smoke alarms and always have an escape plan mapped out for your family.”

The Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s Office recommends the following smoke alarm safety tips:

·Test smoke alarms at least once a month using the test button.

·Make sure everyone in the home understands the sound of the smoke alarm and knows how to respond.

·Replace all smoke alarms when they are 10 years old.

·Replace the smoke alarm immediately if it doesn’t respond properly when tested.

·Smoke alarms should be placed in every sleeping area and common hallways.

All seriousness aside, I'm totally with Jim Jeffries on DST. It's the worst!?! Stop the madness!!!
