An outbreak of E. coli from ground beef has now sickened 177 people in Mississippi and at least nine other states. In a statement Friday, the CDC reported that two companies had recalled ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli. Kentucky, Georgia and Tennessee have seen the highest number of cases. E. coli can cause vomiting, severe stomach cramps and bloody diarrhea. The CDC says as long as you make sure your ground beef is cooked well, it should be okay.

The number of confirmed tornadoes thus far this year in Mississippi continues to climb. One of the latest was added last Thursday when an EF-1 twister barreled through Kiln late in the morning. Fortunately, most of the damage was to trees. Since the first of the year, 75 tornadoes have hit the Magnolia State, at least 43 touching down April 18th.

Defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs became the latest Mississippi Gulf Coast player picked in the NFL Draft on Saturday. Buggs was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 6th round. The 6-foot-3, 307 pounder played for the Bulldogs in 2015 and 2016.
Saivion Smith, a defensive back from Tampa, Fla., played for Perkinston in 2017 and signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent .
