Governor Phil Bryant is not happy with a group of Ole Miss students seen dishonoring a memorial for Emmett Till. In a Twitter post on Saturday, Bryant said he was deeply saddened by the students' choice to pose in such a thoughtless and disrespectful way at the marker. He went on to say that such despicable actions are not representative of the progress the state has made toward racial reconciliation. The photo that surfaced last week shows three students holding guns, standing in front of a bullet-riddled sign. It marks the spot where Till's body was found in the Tallahatchie River after he was tortured and murdered in 1955.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife is considering making some changes in this year's deer hunting season. They say record flooding in several South Delta counties may prompt them to impose some restrictions or close deer season altogether. The agency has posted a survey on its website to get input from hunters who frequent South Delta counties like Sharkey, Issaquena and Yazoo. They want to know how they think this year's flooding has affected wildlife. They also must determine if anyone would be negatively impacted by the proposed changes.

State Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson is encouraging farmers and ranchers in Mississippi to sign up for federal assistance if they believe they've been negatively impacted by foreign retaliatory tariffs. Gipson says the USDA's "Market Facilitation Program" starts today and will run through December 6th. Gipson says producers should take the time and visit their local USDA-FSA offices to find out more about this opportunity.
