The Centers for Disease Control has provided tips regarding how best to protect ourselves in the midst of the outbreak of the Coronavirus, also referred to as COVID-19.
To protect yourself and your family considering the following:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces with any disposable wipes.
- If you have recently returned from a country with ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections, monitor your health and follow the instructions of public health officials.
The CDC states that there is NO recommendation at this time to wear masks or cancel your activities. If you have a fever or cough, stay home. If you are sick and must go out, you can use a face mask to prevent spreading germs to others. Face masks are NOT a substitute for washing your hands.
