Boston Accent Ranked #2 Most Sexy in the U.S.

Well this is a shockah!

I should preface this by telling you that I'm from Boston. Well, I didn't like grow up in the actual City of Boston, but I'm from Waltham, MA which is about 15 minutes west of the city. I had a very thick accent - just like everyone else in the area - until I was 12. That's when I decided I wanted to be on the radio and someone told me, "you better start pronouncing your R's or you'll never get a job!"

So I made a conscious effort to say park instead of pahk and car instead of cah... And here I am, if you listen to me on the radio you will never know I grew up right near Hahvahd. Well, except when I'm drunk or around my family, then I revert back to it.

Anyway, somehow Boston landed second on list of the sexiest accents in the United States. Big Seven Travel polled over a million people on social media and here are some of the results.

  1. Texas
  2. Boston
  3. New York
  4. Maine
  5. Chicago
  6. Mississippi
  7. Hawaii
  8. Philadelphia
  9. St. Louis
  10. California

Among the least sexy are Pittsburgh, Florida, Alaska, Minnesota, New Jersey, and Long Island.

This news also cracks me up because for the last couple of days I've been messing around with the Snapchat filter that makes you look like the opposite gender... Complete with my native accent.

WARNING: Language is a little NSFW - nothing too bad (I say the A word).

Not everyone agrees with the results of this survey. Here's what people had to say about it on my Facebook page.

"I think it's the ugliest accent. 2nd would be Brooklyn."

"Yuck!!!! My husband is from Massachusetts and I am from Texas. I am so happy he lost his accent mostly after he went into the army and left Massachusetts... I hate it! It sounds so dirty to me. No thank you, I will pass!!!!! Give me a Texas twang any day"

So what do you think?
