Contigo Recalls Millions of Kids' Water Bottles Due to Choking Hazard

Contigo just recalled about 6 million of their water bottles made for children due to a choking hazard.

The recall is for Contigo Kids Cleanable Water Bottles sold for $9 to $24 at Target, Walmart, Costco, grocery stores, and other retailers between April 2018 and June 2019. They came in 13oz, 14oz, and 20oz sizes and were sold individually or in two-packs or three-packs. The bottle's clear silicone spout can detach, posing a choking hazard to children.

The base and cover of the clear silicon spout will always be BLACK. Only black color spout base and spout cover models are included in this recall. Contigo is printed on the rim and along the front near the bottom of the bottle.

About 5.7 million units were sold in the United States, with an additional 200,000 sold in Canada and Mexico.

Contigo has received 149 reports of the spout detaching including 18 spouts found in children’s mouths.

Consumers should immediately stop using the bottles, take them away from children, and contact Contigo for inspection instructions and a replacement lid.
