Nine Things Teachers Wish All Parents Knew

Good Housekeeping asked teachers across the country to share what they think parents should hear before school starts back up.  These were the nine big takeaways...

  1. Teachers' schedules don't always allow for an immediate response to emails. Please be patient.
  2. Showing kids that reading is part of life (rather than homework) is so important.
  3. Parents need to get stricter about their children's phones.
  4. And we should try to put our phones away more often too!
  5. Energy drinks are not good for kids and don't set them up for a good day at school.
  6. Understand that a child's behavior at school is not always the same as at home.
  7. Mistakes on homework are OK.  Fixing it FOR our kids isn't helping them.
  8. Teachers are human.  They need our help and encouragement too.
  9. Teachers genuinely care about our kids.

That's just our quick summary.  You should definitely check out the full GoodHouseKeeping.com article for further explanations of all nine points and great quotes from real teachers.
