Many of us, (of a certain age) know John Ratzenberger from his portrayal as Cliff Claven from Cheers, and many more of us (of a much younger age) know his voice from his Pixar characters; Hammy from Toy Story, Mack from Cars, and The Underminer from The Incredibles... But he's with us today to talk about a lesser known role, that of Mike, an angel, in an early Dallas Jenkins movie, "What if...".

"What if...", released several years before "The Chosen", was Dallas' first movie production. John says all his roles have been an angel of some sorts - he always plays the good guy - but only as Mike did he get to deck someone. lol  Re-releasing on its 15th anniversary, "What if..." is in theaters August 5th and 7th only. This episode of Have A Little fFaith is all about the power of small miracles. Small miracles  are often overlooked.

We always look for big miracles for a burning bush, a parting of the sea, for a  life saved, for sight restored, for bones knit back together...

God is still in the business of doing those big miracles, but to me, sometimes the small miracles are the biggest one's of all. The smallest miracles almost always lead you to the place you need to be.

Today’s podcast is about the subject of grief. We need to talk about grief more. We really do. It is a subject that affects all of us. We need to acknowledge the sadness that grief can bring to us and also the people in our lives. Our society does not hold space for grief. We need to change that.

In other countries when women give birth, they're given time off to bond with their baby and care for the baby. Here it's like chop-chop... Get back to work! The same is true with grief. 

In other cultures and other parts of the world when somebody that is close to you passes, you are honored and given ways to grieve. In our society, you are given a message that goes something like this: You should be over this by now... it’s been a few weeks. My answer to that is a hard no.

If you are someone who has experienced deep grief, this episode is for you and if you’re someone who has never experienced grief, you will experience deep grief in your lifetime, so this episode is for you too.
