UMMC Study Focuses On Plasma From Coronavirus Survivors

A study at the University of Mississippi Medical Center is looking at how plasma drawn from survivors of coronavirus could help other patients recover from the virus. Dr. Gailen Marshall, who's leading the research, says this study is different from others around the country in that the blood that's donated is checked for beneficial antibodies before it's used-- and only the plasma with high levels of antibodies is infused into patients who are struggling with the illness. UMMC is looking for additional COVID-19 survivors willing to donate blood samples. For more information, call (601) 496-7837.
