How much does the Tooth Fairy leave?

Inflation even exists in the world of baby teeth. Just ask the tooth fairy! A tooth that was valued at 50 cents or a dollar 30 years ago could be worth as much as $20 today. You heard that right ... $20!

According to the annual Original Tooth Fairy Poll, conducted by Delta Dental, the average kid is getting a little over $4 per lost tooth from the tooth fairy -- which is supposedly a decrease from 2016. But a follow-up impromptu survey from Moneyish readers showed that in a lot of homes, the tooth fairy will fork over a whopping $20 for the first tooth lost and usually $5 for every subsequent baby tooth.

Keep this in mind: Kids have about 20 baby teeth. If they happen to have a generous tooth fairy, they can get a decent chunk of change!
