So- What’s happening with the Popp’s Ferry Bridge?
Two frustrating delays today, (that’s 4 in the last 9 days.)
There was a 1.3 million dollar upgrade that took place several weeks ago, converting the bridge’s electrical components from analog to digital standards. According to City Engineer Christy LeBatard, the new digital system is far more sensitive to electrical issues and that’s what is causing the problems. The city has met with their engineers and are waiting a change order from MDOT, which funded the project, to fix the necessary issues.
